The unemployed youth in Kalkrand, Hardap Region, are turning to crime, alcohol, and drug abuse, with an average of 13 criminal cases reported monthly by Namibian Police Force. According to locals, the lack of job opportunities and recreational activities contributes to the challenges faced by the youth. Nico Jagger, a 33-year-old struggling to find employment, emphasized the impact of economic inactivity, noting that the absence of jobs and recreational outlets leaves young people with limited options. The situation forces residents to travel to neighboring towns like Rehoboth for essential services, exacerbating the challenges faced by the community.
