The Bank Windhoek Red Run attracts 1700 running enthusiasts

With approximately 1,700 participants having registered for the much-anticipated Bank Windhoek Red Run, the event is expected to be a memorable, active, and thrilling experience. Scheduled to take place on Saturday, 10 August 2024, starting at 06:30 am, at Zoo Park in Windhoek, the Bank Windhoek Red Run is a collaboration between the /Ae //Gams Sports Club and Bank Windhoek. It will challenge participants to complete over five kilometres (km), ten km, 21.1km, and 42.2km for a total prize of N$ 60,000 and medals.

Bank Windhoek’s Executive Officer for Marketing and Corporate Communication Services, Jacquiline Pack, said that the response is a fantastic milestone and that the Bank is grateful for the overwhelming support. She requested participants to take note of the following essential information:

Registration Details:

Date: Friday, 9 August 2024

Time: From 11:00 to 18:00

Location: Zoo Park, Independence Avenue.

Registrations will not be taken on the day of the Run. The first 500 paid registered participants will receive branded Red Run t-shirts.

Event Day Information:

Each of the different distances will kick off at different time slots:

Distance Warm Up Time Race Start time:

42 km 06:15 – 06:25 06:30

21 km 06:30 – 06:40 06:45

10 km 06:45 – 06:55 07:00

5 km 07:00 – 07:10 07:15

Pack said the Red Run shows Bank Windhoek’s commitment to health and fitness, positively impacting the local community. She also announced that several partners have agreed to set up water points along the route to keep everyone hydrated.

“Additionally, various food vendors will be present, ensuring that participants and spectators enjoy a great day out. The event promises to be a challenging run and a day full of fun and community spirit. We encourage everyone to support the event by following and sharing updates on social media,” she said.

The Bank Windhoek Red Run will be a timed event with a reserved cut-off finish time set at 11:00. The distances will be measured and marked with water points across the multiple routes.
