Anna Maasdorp Combined School, Duinevel, Hardap Region, 4th November 2024 – NamWater has reaffirmed its commitment to education and community development through a significant contribution to learners in the Hardap Region. Today, in a handover ceremony attended by key stakeholders, stationery supplies valued at N$ 381,660.00 were officially donated to 11 schools across the region. This initiative is part of NamWater’s comprehensive Corporate Social Investment (CSI) programme, which aims to address critical educational needs and promote sustainable socio-economic development.

The event was graced by Hon. Salomon M. April, Governor of the Hardap Region, who delivered the keynote address. The Governor highlighted the importance of partnerships in overcoming challenges in education and commended NamWater for its pivotal role in addressing resource disparities. “Today’s donation goes beyond the provision of school supplies; it signifies opening doors to knowledge and opportunity for our learners,” he said, underscoring the positive impact this support will have on the region’s future.

In his strategic overview of NamWater’s CSI initiative, Mr. Abraham Nehemia, NamWater’s Chief Executive Officer represented by Mrs. Kadiva Hamutumwa, Chief Strategy and Corporate Affairs Officer, reiterated the company’s dedication to uplifting Namibian communities through education. “Our CSI programme aligns with Namibia’s national development goals, focusing on key areas such as education, health, and infrastructure. By supporting learners with the necessary tools for academic success, we are investing in the socio-economic wellbeing of our communities,” Mr. Nehemia stated.

The 11 schools benefiting from the donation include:

  1. Tsumis Farm Primary School
  2. Anna Maasdorp Primary School
  3. Samuel Veldskoen Primary School
  4. Mukorob Primary School
  5. Klein Aub Primary School
  6. Groendraai Primary School
  7. WJD Cloete Primary School
  8. JW Mouton Primary School
  9. Eduard Frederick Primary School
  10. Piet Diergaardt Primary School
  11. Nabaseb Primary School

NamWater’s investment in the Hardap Region comes in response to the 2021 Multidimensional Poverty Index, which identified significant challenges related to educational resources. The initiative is a strategic intervention designed to equip learners with essential tools and foster an environment conducive to learning. Additionally, NamWater’s broader CSI strategy includes infrastructure and ICT support, as well as psychosocial services to address learners’ holistic needs.

Hon. Governor April emphasised the collective responsibility of uplifting educational standards. “We must continue to build a future where no learner is left behind. I hope today’s event inspires more private entities to join this crucial effort,” he concluded.

NamWater remains dedicated to partnering with various stakeholders to create lasting positive impacts, ensuring that communities across Namibia thrive.
