Former EFF national chairperson Dali Mpofu has joined uMkhonto weSizwe. He forms part of the exodus of EFF leaders who have jumped ship in recent months to join Jacob Zuma’s party, including former deputy president Floyd Shivambu, Mzwanele Manyi, and Busisiwe Mkhwebane. Mpofu, a long-standing Zuma ally, told the SABC this move to the MK Party had been in the works for a year.

EFF leader Julius Malema remains unmoved by the former national chairperson’s decision to join former president Jacob Zuma’s MK Party. Responding to Mpofu’s exit message on X, Malema said he anticipates more senior departures but says the EFF stands strong.

Just four months ago, Mpofu and his colleague Advocate Lerato Moela were denied work permits by Namibia’s Ministry of Home Affairs, Immigration, Safety, and Security. The two arrived in Namibia to represent the Namibia Economic Freedom Fighters (NEFF) in a deregistration case at the Windhoek High Court.
