The National Petroleum Corporation of Namibia (NAMCOR) has reported significant progress at Block 2913B (PEL 56) in the Orange Basin.

PEL 56 is a joint venture (JV) between TotalEnergies (50.5%, Operator), QatarEnergy (30%), Impact Oil and Gas Namibia (Pty) Ltd (9.5%), and NAMCOR (10%).

The partners are conducting extensive post-well studies, analyzing cores, logging data, and fluid samples acquired from the Venus wells.

These studies will continue into 2025.

According to NAMCOR, the JV is fast-tracking development studies for a potential Venus project.

Drilling operations are also underway at Tamboti-1X, where the spudding of the exploration well commenced in October 2024.

Additionally, NAMCOR stated that technical evaluations for block maturation and prospectivity are ongoing to support further exploration and appraisal activities.

Meanwhile, Block 2813A (PEL 83), operated by Galp (80%) with NAMCOR (10%) and Custos Energy Ltd (10%) as partners, has seen the successful drilling, coring, and logging of the Mopane-1A appraisal well (Well #3).

The well, spudded on October 23, 2024, was completed on November 28, 2024.

The Mopane-1A well encountered light oil and gas condensate in high-quality reservoir-bearing sands.

It demonstrated good porosity, high permeability, high pressures, low oil viscosity, minimal CO2, and no H2S concentrations.
