The first four defendants in the ongoing red line case—the ministry of agriculture, government, the attorney general, and veterinary officer, Hango Nambinga—are against removing the red line and suggest that the lives of the northern citizens should be improved.

The fifth defendant, Meat Board, suggested gradually moving the red line.

During his re-examination, activist Job Amupanda said the government protects settlers or white farmers who own 85% of the 5000 farms that are found south of the veterinary cordon fence.

He objected to the defendants’ suggestions, stating, “If government measures were effective, there would be no need for a red line in the first place.”

Defendants lawyers, including senior advocate Raymond Heathcote, said all the defendants will apply for absolution, which the lawyers will file by Tuesday.

Presiding judge Shafimana Ueitele again asked the plaintiff not to lecture and to give straightforward answers. He ordered all parties to return to court for arguments on Friday, the 31st of January.
