The Namibia University of Science and Technology (NUST), in collaboration with Mobile Telecommunications Limited (MTC) and the Namibia Investment and Finance Academy (NIFA), has announced the opening of Namibia’s first Bloomberg Finance Lab at NUST in Windhoek at the HighTech Transfer Plaza Select (HTTPS).
The lab, set to open in February 2025, will be equipped with 12 Bloomberg Terminals, providing real-time data, analytics, and electronic trading tools.
NUST Vice-Chancellor Professor Erold Naomab said the initiative will enhance financial literacy and bridge the gap between academic theory and real-world financial applications.
The Finance Lab will help undergraduate and graduate students build the skills needed for a career in finance. Students will have access to e-learning certification courses, including the Bloomberg Market Concepts (BMC) course.
Undergraduate and Master’s program students will also receive training on the use of the Bloomberg Terminal, and take courses on investment, risk and portfolio management.
The lab will also be accessible to the university’s academic community to conduct research projects.
Meanwhile, MTC Managing Director, Licky Erastus, said the lab’s role is to drive innovation and positioning Namibia at the forefront of digital finance transformation.
The lab aims to support Namibia’s Vision 2030 by fostering industry-ready graduates, advancing research, and offering professional financial training.
