The White House says US President Donald Trump is “making air travel safer” by reviewing hiring practices following Wednesday night’s fatal mid-air collision in Washington. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said the Trump administration review will look at the past four years at the Federal Aviation Administration. It comes as the president faces accusations of racism for suggesting diversity hirings contributed to Wednesday’s crash between a passenger jet and military helicopter. Leavitt defended president Trump’s comments.

Leavitt said the president is working to make changes.
