Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has expressed support for former US President Donald Trump’s suggestion that the United States should explore taking control of the Gaza Strip. The comments came during a meeting at the White House, where Trump described Gaza as having the potential to become the “Riviera of the Middle East” and did not rule out deploying US troops to achieve this vision.

Meanwhile, a coalition of civil society organizations in South Africa has strongly condemned Trump’s recent threats against the country. The group, which includes the Ahmed Kathrada Foundation, Corruption Watch, Helen Suzman Foundation, and the Desmond and Leah Tutu Foundation, has accused Trump of spreading “dangerous lies.” Nicole Fritz from the Campaign for Free Expression weighed in on the matter, emphasizing the concerns raised by these organisations.
