The Government Institutions Pension Fund (GIPF) has issued a reminder to all pensioners, children, and spousal beneficiaries to complete their Biometric Verification (proof of life) for the period ending 30 June 2025. Beneficiaries can visit their nearest GIPF office or use the GIPF mobile verification app to ensure uninterrupted benefit payments.

Biometric verification is a crucial process that ensures pension payments are made to the rightful recipients. GIPF GM: Marketing and Stakeholders Engagement, Edwin Tjiramba has warned that members who fail to complete the verification by 30 June 2025 will have their monthly benefits suspended.

Beneficiaries are required to verify their status three times a year within the following periods:

  • 1 March – 30 June
  • 1 July – 31 October
  • 1 November – 28 February

To improve accessibility, GIPF launched a Biometric Verification Mobile Application and Biometric Verification Handheld Devices in October 2024. These digital solutions aim to enhance efficiency and ease the verification process, particularly for those facing challenges related to travel and costs.

While biometric verification may pose logistical difficulties for some members, GIPF emphasizes its importance in maintaining the Fund’s long-term sustainability. By integrating digital technologies, the Fund seeks to streamline its operations while ensuring that benefits are paid only to eligible recipients.

Beneficiaries are urged to complete their verification as soon as possible to avoid any disruptions in their pension payments.
