The Central Procurement Board of Namibia (CPBN) has launched its Public and Bidders Education Campaign in Windhoek.

The campaign aims to educate bidders and the general public on how the procurement process works and how they can master the art of procurement and bidding.

Speaking during the launch in Windhoek, CPBN board chairperson Mary Shiimi said she is concerned with the investments they make compared to the value they get when more than 50% of participating bidders in a bidding process are disqualified for reasons that could easily be prevented.

She noted that public procurement is a cornerstone of good governance and economic development.

According to her the launch of the campaign signifies a response to a call from the bidders, the public entities and the public that they serve.

“A call to be efficient, a call to listen and a call to educate the public, a call to create awareness, and most important to be fair and transparent in all our business dealings,” she emphasized.
