Armed robbers steal N$100,000 from Namcor filling station in Katutura

Five armed robbers targeted the National Petroleum Corporation of Namibia (Namcor) filling station in Soweto, Katutura on Monday morning, making off with approximately N$100,000.

While the criminals managed to escape in a getaway vehicle, police quickly apprehended one suspect at the scene.

Namcor’s Manager of Marketing, Communication, and Public Relations, Paulo Coelho, shared an update on the incident.

Coelho explained that the service station operates under a DODO model — dealer-owned, dealer-operated — meaning the site is independently owned and managed by the dealer, with NamCor supplying the fuel and branding services.

Coelho expressed sympathy for the dealer affected by the robbery, stating, “We express our sympathy and support to the dealer affected by this unfortunate event. The relevant authorities have been notified and are conducting a full investigation.”

Fortunately, the stolen money has been recovered, and some of the suspects are now in police custody. Investigations continue as authorities work to track down the remaining suspects involved in the crime.
