UN humanitarian chief asks Security Council to help protect UN staff in Yemen.

United Nations humanitarian chief, Tom Fletcher has appealed to the Security Council to assist in getting UN staff released in Yemen. Several UN staff and other humanitarians are being held captive by Houthi rebels, some for several years. Fletcher says UN aid operations are continuing despite insignificant risks. Seven aid workers killed in Gaza

The charity World Central Kitchen says seven of its aid workers have been killed in an Israeli airstrike in Gaza after dropping off food at a warehouse. The group includes citizens from the UK, U.S., Australia and Poland and the charity says the vehicle they were travelling in was clearly marked.

Fighting intensifies in eastern DRC

The United Nations says two rockets landed close to a base of UN peacekeepers during clashes between the M23 rebels and government forces in the east of the Democratic Republic of Congo on Monday. No casualties were reported among the peacekeepers.
