ANC Johannesburg Welcomes Tshepo Makola’s Appointment as Acting City Manager

  In S.A, the ANC in Johannesburg has welcomed the City Council’s decision to ratify the appointment of the chief operations officer, Tshepo Makola as the acting city manager. Spokesperson Masilo Serekele says following the court judgment that nullified the city manager's appointment, mayor Dada Morero exercised his authority, as outlined in the council delegations of authority, to appoint an acting city manager, subject to council ratification:

City of Johannesburg council speaker affirms commitment to the rule of law

  City of Johannesburg council speaker Nobuhle Mthembu has affirmed the office’s commitment to the rule of law. This was after the High Court in Johannesburg declared the council’s VIP protection policy unlawful. The court found the policy was put in place without a required threat assessment from the police. Mthembu says the office is reviewing the judgment and will act based on legal advice:
