Flights resume at Washington National Airport

Flights have resumed at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport after a mid-air collision that killed 67 people. A US army helicopter and an American Airlines passenger jet plunged into the Potomac River on Wednesday night - nobody is believed to have survived. Recovery teams have pulled more than two dozen bodies from the icy water. Caroline Malone reports from the river's edge outside the airport in Northern Virginia:

Update On Military helicopter and regional jet mid-air collision in Washington

  Here an update on our 10am news story...A major search and rescue operation is underway in Washington DC after a military helicopter collided in mid-air with a commercial jetliner that was making its final approach to Ronald Reagan National Airport in the center of the city. A total of around 60 people are feared to have been on board the two aircraft. From Washington, Simon Marks reports.
