Agra Weaner Championship

Wilson Tjirare, Godfried Zemburuka and Frenfriedt Karipata were recently announced as the top three champions of the Agra 2023 Weaner Championship Series National Winners – Communal Towns. The trio participated in the final Weaner Championship Series event for the Communal towns in Gobabis, hosted by Agra Auctions. The communal towns included Okakarara, Okondjatu, Aminius, and Talismanus.

Tjirare won the Feedlot Potential category, Zemburuka won the Veld Potential, while Karipata was announced as the winner for the Heifers with Breeding Potential category.

In addition to the championship series, the event also organised a training day on livestock management for communal farmers. The training aimed to teach farmers the correct farming methods and the proper use of the resources.

The competition was conducted with the utmost professionalism and rigour by a panel of judges with extensive experience and insight. The judges were experts in their fields, such as Christo van Zyl, Lourens Swart, Norbert Neumann, and Danie de Lange from Feedmaster, and Paul Klein, Herman Lintvelt, Fanie Cronje, and Flip du Plessis from Agra.

The event organisers thanked Bank Windhoek for sponsoring the programme for the communal farmers. They celebrated the success of the Agra Weaner Championship Series and said they look forward to more growth, excellence, and camaraderie in Namibia’s cattle industry.

Sponsored by Bank Windhoek, the Agra Weaner Championship Series continues to serve as a vital economic stimulus for Namibia’s cattle industry, offering producers a unique opportunity to benchmark their production standards against their peers. This process fosters valuable relationships, encourages the consistent review and enhancement of management practices and fortifies the cattle industry.

Participants in the Agra Weaner Championship Series represent a broad spectrum of the industry, ranging from small-scale resettlement farmers to well-established commercial farmers.
