US officials say Gaza hostage deal is closer than any point before

A US official said a deal to release hostages held in Gaza is ‘closer than at any point’ since negotiations began. Deputy national security adviser Jon Finer told media on Sunday areas of disagreement have narrowed between Israel and Hamas. There are around 240 hostages currently believed to be held in Gaza, including American citizens. But Finer stressed an agreement was not yet in place, contrary to reports over the weekend.
