Namibia will send a 50-person delegation to this year’s Conference of Parties in the United Arab Emirates. The delegation will be led by President Hage Geingob and will comprise members from both the private and public sectors. COP28 takes place from 30 November to 12 December 2023 in Dubai, and serves as an urgent call to action to the global climate crisis. Meanwhile, even in the most optimistic scenario of current climate plans, the likelihood of limiting warming to 1.5°C is only 14%. A new UN Environment Programme report warns that nations must urgently reduce emissions or we might face global warming of 2.5-2.9°C.
