National Youth Security Services security guards demanded an increase in their hourly wages from the current hourly wage N$7.75 to the minimum wage of N$10.00 per hour as gazetted by Government. The NYSS security guards under the National Youth Service made this demand during the handover of a petition after a peaceful demonstration, adding the wage should be effective from 15 December 2023. Speaking on behalf of the security guards, Rachel Stefanus said they would no longer tolerate any further exploitation from NYSS management as they want to be paid as per the legal minimum wage for security guards.
