SA’s Organisation Undoing Tax Abuse says the Auditor-General’s report on audit outcomes for national and provincial governments for 2022/2023, shows an alarming lack of financial control in high-impact government departments. Auditor-General Tsakani Maluleke’s 124-page report showed overall improved audit outcomes with some lingering weaknesses. The Western Cape was the best-performing province, with 18 clean audits. Outa CEO, Wayne Duvenage, says it is concerning that 31 departments missed the deadline for providing their financial statements to the Office of the Auditor General.
