Leonardville in land servicing crisis

Allocation of serviced erven is a great challenge in the town of Leonardville in the Omaheke Region, according to that village council’s chairperson, Petra Witbooi, in an interview with this agency. Wibooi indicated that the demand for land has increased drastically over the years, with institutions like the Shack Dwellers Federation of Namibia, Build Together programme and individuals applying for land in the village council recently. Furthermore, Witbooi said the village council soon to become a town is also challenged by other things like the ‘generational’ debts that need to be honoured as well as hiring of expertise from outside the village also being costly.
