The EHW Baard Primary School at Noordoewer recently received computer equipment worth over N.dollars 300 000 to set up a computer lab at the school.

||Kharas Region Acting Director of Education, Arts and Culture, Jesmine Magerman on this gesture said that with the world being faced with opportunities the fourth industrial revolution offers, the ministry is fully aware that the education sector in Namibia has to develop alongside the development of technology.

“Thus the ministry has embarked on participating in discourse about advancing digital education and focusing on the digital school,” she noted.

She however was quick to say that in reality, the education sector is far away from realising such a dream because there are many schools in the region, especially primary schools, without a computer room where learners can learn and explore the digital world and are given the opportunity to access and harness the potential of digital resources to their disposal.

Magerman said the donation of the computer equipment will ensure that learners will have the ability to access and harness the potential of digital resources, which is a fundamental skill in today’s world and equip them for the future.

“As the learners of the school will marvel at the gleaming screens and the hum of processors, let us not forget that these tools are not just about hardware and software, they are about unlocking creativity, fostering innovation and bridging the gap to a world of information,” she said.

She said computers give the key to a world where knowledge knows no bounds urging the learners at the school to seize the opportunities that come with the new computer lab to explore, question and learn.

The computers were donated by Escalate Investment while the Road Fund Administration donated a further N.dollars 63 200 in cash.

Expressing her gratitude towards the donors Magerman said: “We express our profound gratitude to you for the generous donation which is in line with our strive as the directorate of education to render effective the right to quality education for the children enrolled at this school.”
