Scientists have identified proactive measures to address climate change in the Global South. This comes in response to a World Health Organisation report indicating that climate change is directly contributing to humanitarian emergencies, such as heatwaves, wildfires and floods. The research reveals that 3.6-billion people already live in areas experiencing high levels of climate change, leading to increased disease prevalence. Stellenbosch University researcher, Tulio de Oliveira, told eNCA that reducing greenhouse gas emissions is one of the potential solutions to address climate change.
