The International Court of Justice will begin arguments on South Africa’s bid to stop what it calls the massacre of Palestinians in Gaza. South Africa’s International Relations Director General, Zane Dangor told Newzroom Africa that institutionalised impunity has allowed a ‘textbook genocide to unfold in Gaza.’Separately, Al Jazeera reports that the United Nations’ humanitarian chief Martin Griffiths says Gaza has become a place of “death and despair” for Palestinians as Israel attacks al-Amal Hospital in south Gaza. Meanwhile, Lebanon has filed an official complaint to the UN Security Council, saying that Israel had fired six missiles in an attack that killed Saleh al-Arouri. At least 22,600 people have been killed and 57,910 wounded in Israeli attacks on Gaza since the 7th of October 2023. The revised death toll from the October 7th attack on Israel stands at 1,139. The Namibia Government has condemned the Israel-Hamas violence and reiterated its unwavering support to the people of Palestine.
