The school admission process for the 2024 academic year started in May, June, and July 2023. However, some learners still haven’t found placement. We asked Sanet Steenkamp, the Executive Director of the Ministry of Education, about the systems in place for learner accommodation and what steps parents can take.

Steenkamp says the Ministry has meanwhile implemented a verification process that will begin once public schools re-open on 15 January.

Following the Ministry of Education’s announcement of the release of the Namibia Senior Secondary Certificate results and the acknowledgment of the poor outcomes of the 2022 school year, we asked Executive Director Sanet Steenkamp about her expectations for potential improvements.

The results of the 2023 Namibia Senior Secondary Certificate Ordinary and Advanced Subsidiary level national examinations for full-time and part-time learners will be released on Wednesday. The results will be available Wednesday at 12:15 AM on the ministry’s website and via SMS. Candidates can send messages with their full candidate numbers to 99099; 55755 or 44044.

Meanwhile, as public schools prepare to reopen on Monday, 15 January 2024, and the latest World Health Organisation report showing an increase in cases linked to the Coronavirus JN.1 variant, Sanet Steenkamp, the Executive Director of the Ministry of Education, Arts, and Culture, said the government’s school health policy helps prevent the spread of diseases.
