Employees at Rössing Uranium are set to receive salary increments for the years 2024, 2025, and 2026, as outlined in a negotiation agreement signed by the Rössing Branch Executive Committee and the Mineworkers Union of Namibia (MUN).

According to the agreement, Grade 1 to 11 employees will see a 7 per cent increase in February 2024, followed by a 6 per cent raise in 2025 and another 6 per cent increment in 2026.

Rössing Uranium spokesperson, Daylight Ekandjo, in a press release said L-Band employees will also benefit from a 7 per cent salary increase in 2024, with subsequent raises of 6 per cent in 2025 and 6 per cent in 2026. The agreement was officially signed on 18 January 2024.

Expressing appreciation, Rössing Uranium’s Employee Relations Advisor, Lana Maletzky, commended the MUN Branch Executive team for their “mature and constructive” approach throughout the negotiations.

“This agreement secures increments for employees for the next three years which indeed is a milestone, with both parties sharing a common understanding of the challenges facing the business. The parties also agreed to the renewing of procedural and related agreements within the next three months,” she said.

MUN Rössing Branch Chairperson, Stanslaus Limbondi, also expressed gratitude to both parties for reaching an amicable solution. He highlighted the collaborative goal of ensuring a conducive working environment for employees.

“The trade union is there to protect and advance the interest of its members by negotiating working conditions in the best interest of its members. We tried to conclude the wage negotiations in the shortest possible time and urge both parties to maintain mutual relations,” he added.
