In a recent interview with Future Media News, Valentinus Sindongo, the CEO of the Omaruru Town Council, addressed concerns surrounding the cutting down of a tree in Lunar Park. Sindongo shed light on the broader context of the Lunar Park revamping project, emphasizing the council’s commitment to enhancing the town’s aesthetics and generating revenue.

During the interview, Sindongo responded to community dissatisfaction with the tree removal, citing the neglect of Lunar Park over the years. He clarified that the decision to revamp the park was part of a comprehensive plan discussed during a May 2023 meeting with the political governing body. The council identified Lunar Park as a key area for improvement, aiming to make it more attractive to residents and potential investors.

Sindongo acknowledged that some trees, including the one in question, had grown unchecked due to historical neglect. The revamping project involves removing old structures, fallen trees, and enhancing the park’s overall infrastructure. He highlighted the importance of making Lunar Park a viable and revenue-generating asset for the town.

The CEO also urged residents to attend public meetings to stay informed about the town’s development projects. Sindongo emphasized that decisions like the Lunar Park revamp were discussed openly during public meetings, providing an opportunity for community input.

The Omaruru Town council is actively working on upgrading infrastructure, including the park, to accommodate visitors and enhance the town’s appeal. Sindongo concluded by expressing optimism about the positive impact the Lunar Park revamping project would have on Omaruru’s residents once completed.

Residents and stakeholders are encouraged to engage in public meetings to contribute to the town’s growth and development. The Omaruru Town Council remains committed to transparent communication and inclusive decision-making for the betterment of the community.
