Gobabis Town Council Initiates Eviction of Urban Farmers, Sparks Controversy

today31 January, 2024

Background

The Gobabis Town Council has ignited controversy by setting a pressing deadline for the eviction of urban generational farmers and farm dwellers today. Citing the legal authority of the Public and Environment Health Act of 2015, the council stands firm, while the Landless People’s Movement strongly opposes the move. Despite previous resolutions and persistent efforts by farmers to secure land access, the issue remains a contentious point. Lifalaza Simataa, representing the party, shares his perspective on the matter.
