South Africa’s Electoral Commission Prepared for Voter Registration Weekend

The Independent Electoral Commission of South Africa has declared its readiness for the upcoming voter registration weekend. A total of 23,303 registration stations will be operational from 8 AM to 5 PM, providing citizens with the opportunity to register or verify their details. Notably, the voters’ roll has achieved a historic milestone, surpassing 27 million. Chief Electoral Officer Sy Mamabolo credited the success to the online registration platform, which facilitated nearly 200,000 new registrations. In addition, Mamabolo confirmed the signing and conclusion of lease agreements for permanent voting stations, ensuring continued accessibility for citizens in the electoral process.
