Mbumba assumes Presidency temporarily

Background

Nangolo Mbumba, the former Vice President, has been sworn in as the fourth President of the Republic of Namibia, succeeding the late President Hage Geingob, who passed away on Sunday. Mbumba expressed his commitment to serve the country temporarily until the upcoming elections. With National and Presidential elections scheduled for later this year, President Geingob’s term was initially set to conclude on 21 March 2025. Political Analyst Rakkel Andreas provides insights.
