Background

South Africa’s Health Minister, Joe Phaahla, reports 46 suspected cholera cases and five laboratory-confirmed cases from January 1st to the present. Among them, three cases are linked to neighboring Zimbabwe’s ongoing cholera outbreak. Highlighting concern, Phaahla notes two cases in Limpopo involving an 11-year-old and a 13-year-old with no travel history, indicating potential local transmission.
