Namibia’s Inspector General of Police, Lieutenant General Joseph Shikongo, provided reassurance on Monday, stating that there have been no reported security threats since the swearing-in of former Vice President Nangolo Mbumba as the fourth President of Namibia. This transition followed the untimely demise of President Hage Geingob on Sunday. In the wake of these developments, International Relations Minister Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah assumed the role of Vice President. Lieutenant General Shikongo emphasized the resilience of Namibia’s democratic system, asserting that the country is not currently at risk of any security threats.
