SA education Minister Nzimande Approves NSFAS Eligibility Criteria and Accommodation Financial Aid Caps

Blade Nzimande, the South African Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Innovation, has given the green light to the proposed eligibility criteria for the National Student Financial Aid Scheme and the conditions for financial aid related to accommodation. Under the approved criteria, university-managed self-catering and accredited private off-campus accommodation will be capped at 50,000 rand in metro areas and 41,000 rand in other areas per academic year. According to the department’s spokesperson, Veli Mbele, university-managed and catered accommodations are capped at 66,500 rand in metros and 57,500 rand in other areas
