South Africa’s GOOD Party has voiced disappointment with President Ramaphosa’s failure to commit to a comprehensive social security overhaul. While the president reinforced plans to transition to a permanent basic income grant, achieved through extending and amending the social relief of distress grant, the GOOD Party’s secretary-general, Brett Herron, contends that basic income support serves as the fundamental basis upon which the government can construct a stable and effective economy.
