Inkatha Freedom Party Deems State of the Nation Address Uninspiring and a Repetition of Past Years

today9 February, 2024

Background

South Africa’s Inkatha Freedom Party criticizes President Cyril Ramaphosa’s recent State of the Nation Address, describing it as uninspiring and a mere repetition of the past five years. President Ramaphosa aimed to spotlight the achievements of the past three decades during the ANC’s sixth administration, asserting that South Africa has made significant progress since apartheid. However, IFP leader Velenkosini Hlabisa contends that the address amounted to an admission of failure, particularly in addressing issues like state capture.
