The International Agency for Research on Cancer, via the Global Cancer Observatory, has published new global cancer statistics to aid in cancer control and research efforts. Worldwide, the data reveals a peak of 3,453 life-threatening cancers in 2022, excluding non-melanoma skin cancer. Namibia, in particular, is witnessing an increase, reporting over 5,000 cases annually. CEO of the Cancer Association, Rolf Hansen says cancer treatment is not readily available to the masses in many African countries.
