Namibia’s Regional and Constituency Fund Bill Aims for Financial Empowerment

Namibia’s Minister of Urban and Rural Development, Erastus Uutoni, introduced the Regional and Constituency Fund Bill in Parliament, aiming to bolster the financial capabilities of regional councils. The proposed legislation aims to establish a fund supporting projects in regions and local authorities, offering guaranteed annual appropriations for constituency development projects. If passed, the bill will replace the Trust Fund for Regional Development and Equity Provisions Act of 2000, addressing shortcomings in the current framework for regional development funding.
