Hilma George-Nuunyango, Acting Regional Director for Education in the Oshana Region, announced the closure of five schools due to consistently low learner numbers. George-Nuunyango explained that these closures transpired over a twelve-year period from 2010 to 2022. The identified schools were shut down to align educational resources with demand highlighting that Ongako is repurposed by the Ministry of Health, while Andam-bombali and Uupeke serve as centers for the ministry’s adult education program. The move reflects a strategic adaptation to evolving demographics in the region.
