Private Schools Association forced to comply with basic education act

The Ministry of Education, Arts, and Culture has declared Friday, 23 February a school holiday as part of the national mourning for late President Hage Geingob’s funeral weekend. Initially, private schools chose not to follow the directive but later reversed their decision after talks with the Ministry. Here’s Colette Rieckert, Chairperson of the Private Schools Association of Namibia.

Update: The Holy Cross Convent Primary School in Windhoek has distanced themselves from the above, saying that they intended to comply with the original directive from the Ministry of Education, Arts and Culture from the outset.
