The United States is announcing a “major sanctions package” to hold Russia and its President Vladimir Putin accountable for the death of Alexei Navalny and the war in Ukraine. White House spokesperson John Kirby says the Biden administration will put forward the economic measures on Friday, a week after Navalny — a long-time anti-corruption campaigner and Putin critic — was found dead in an Artic Circle penal colony. Benji Hyer reports.
