We gather here today to honor the memory of His Excellency, the late President Hage Geingob, a towering figure in the fight for liberation in our region. President Geingob was not just a leader, he was a hero.

President Geingob’s legacy of patriotism and pan-Africanism serves as a beacon of hope and inspiration for all who strive for justice and freedom. He will forever inspire generations to come. His unwavering dedication to the Namibian people leaves an indelible mark on our hearts.

On behalf of the President of Republic of Madagascar HE Andry Rajoelina, our government, and the Malagasy people, I extend our heartfelt condolences to President Geingob’s family and the people of Namibia. In this moment of mourning, our thoughts and prayers are with you. May the enduring spirit of President Geingob continue to guide and uplift Namibia as it moves forward.

Madagascar holds a deep respect for its relationship with Namibia.

The history of Madagascar-Namibia relations is rooted in our common struggle against apartheid in Southern Africa. Madagascar provided refuge to SWAPO activists and hosted an ANC bureau, demonstrating unwavering support for the liberation movement. Our nations share a bond forged in the fight for freedom and justice.

Our shared history, our solidarity within regional and continental frameworks underscores our commitment to mutual progress and prosperity.

In closing, let us honor President Hage Geingob’s memory by recommitting ourselves to the ideals of unity, peace, and development. May his legacy serve as a guiding light for generations to come.

President Geingob, may your soul rest in eternal peace.

Thank you.
