South Africa’s Rise Mzansi, joined by hundreds of unemployed healthcare workers, took to the streets in a march to the Union Buildings, submitting a memorandum that underscores the challenges healthcare professionals face in securing employment. The Department of Health’s recent announcement of a 3.7-billion-rand budget allocation for additional staff recruitment served as a backdrop to the demonstration. Rise Mzansi Gauteng convenor, Tebogo Moalusi, strongly asserted that it is deemed unacceptable to have a pool of unemployed healthcare workers while the sector grapples with understaffing issues.
