DA Calls for President Ramaphosa to Escalate Suspension of Deputy Minister Dipuo Peters to Removal

today4 March, 2024

Background

The Democratic Alliance in South Africa insists that President Cyril Ramaphosa revisits his decision to suspend Deputy Minister of Small Business Development, Dipuo Peters, urging for her outright removal. Jan de Villiers of the DA alleges that Peters, during her tenure in what he labels as the state capture cabinet under former President Jacob Zuma, displayed significant negligence. Pointing to her failure to appoint a chief executive for Prasa and her dismissal of the entity’s board after uncovering 14 billion rand in financial irregularities, de Villiers asserts the need for decisive action.
