Namibia Launches Bioeconomy Strategy to Foster National Development

Minister of Higher Education, Technology, and Innovation, Itah Kandjii-Murangi, announced the implementation of the Bioeconomy strategy on Wednesday, approved by Cabinet in November 2019. The strategy, effective from 2024 to 2029, aims to accelerate biotechnology for national development, contributing to poverty alleviation and fostering sustainable economic growth. Kandjii-Murangi emphasized the collaborative efforts with the National Commission on Research Science and Technology , as well as the support from the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations and the Bioeconomy Multisectoral working group. The announcement took place during the inauguration of the space council launched by the NCRST.
