The Philippines says it will not allow China to remove its military outpost in a fiercely disputed South China Sea shoal. Four Filipino navy personnel were injured in a confrontation between Chinese and Philippine ships this week. Washington – a key ally of the Philippines – said the incidents demonstrated China’s “reckless disregard for international law.” Beijing said that it has exercised a “high degree of restraint” in its maritime disputes. Laura Westbrook has more.
