In the aftermath of the passing of Swapo Party president Dr. Hage Geingob on February 4, 2024, the ruling party’s central committee convened on Saturday, adopting resolutions to address the constitutional challenges ahead of the upcoming presidential elections. The CC decided that Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, Swapo Party Vice President, will continue as the ruling party’s presidential candidate for the forthcoming elections later this year. Additionally, the CC resolved that an extraordinary congress will be postponed until the following year, signifying Swapo’s commitment to navigating the complex circumstances surrounding Geingob’s death and ensuring stability in the party’s leadership.
