Western Cape MEC of Mobility Ricardo Mackenzie has expressed concern at the number of fatalities recorded on the province’s road in the past few weeks. Over the weekend, 13 people died in a bus crash on the N1 at the Hexrivier Pass near De Doorns. Preliminary reports indicate that the driver of the bus lost control and collided with a truck before crashing into the rock wall of the pass. Mackenzie says the bus was travelling towards Cape Town carrying 60 passengers.
