Former Works and Transport Executive Director Warns Against Misusing Sam Nujoma’s Name in Swapo’s Succession Politics

Peter Mwatile, the former executive director of works and transport, has cautioned against the inappropriate use of founding president Sam Nujoma’s name in Swapo’s succession politics. Mwatile emphasized that Nujoma cannot endorse decisions that violate the party’s constitution. This comes in response to concerns over the years about individuals close to the president exploiting Nujoma’s name for political advantage. At a recent Swapo central committee meeting, a speech endorsed Vice President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah as the ruling party’s sole presidential candidate for the upcoming elections. Mwatile clarified that the endorsing statement was not prepared by Nujoma, urging respect for the party’s constitutional processes.
