Mines and Energy Minister Tom Alweendo dismissed allegations of corruptly awarding petroleum licenses in the oil and gas sector to a friend during a parliamentary session on Tuesday. The accusations surfaced following a question posed by Henny Seibeb, a Member of Parliament representing the Landless People’s Movement, regarding corruption. Alweendo acknowledged similar accusations circulating on social media platforms. Graham Hopwood, Executive Director of the Institute for Public Policy Research, provides analysis on the issue.
