The United Nations Security Council is expected to vote later on a US-drafted resolution urging an immediate ceasefire in Gaza. It comes as US secretary of state Anthony Blinken continues to insist negotiators can still reach a deal for a truce between Hamas and Israel. EU leaders have also called for an ‘immediate humanitarian pause’ which they hope will lead to a ‘sustainable ceasefire’ in Gaza.
